I am looking at a 1999 Daewoo Lanos, what are your thoughts on Daewoo cars, I have read so many mixed reviews on them! help!

If you are after a cheap runabout it would be an okay car. However- they are cheap for a reason- build quality, refinement, etc are not up to much

Good enough for Holden to place their badge on later on in production. Probably equal to Hyundai/Kia of the same era. The '99 Lanos would have had the same engine choices as similar era GM vehicles (ie Opel/Holden)

We had one done 280000km so they can't be all bad.

I've seen a few fail with snapped cambelts, gunged up with run bottom ends, etc. To be fair they are probably owned by people who dont service them as they should have been. Resale price is non existant so they should be able to be picked up cheep & make a good runaround
