Pits and fuel leaks are a very dangerous combination.Remember petrol fumes are heavier than air so the pit will fill with fumes and then Carboom you havea fireball or alternatevly you pass out from lack of air.

Seriously aware of that mate. I had a boss years ago who suffered horrific burns as a result of a split fuel tank igniting in a pit.

For now the tank has been drained and as the leak is relatively high up there is no fuel around and vapours are contained.

Now that we know the issue it has come off the pit as it can be fixed from directly under the rear seat squab. (Assuming a seal is available)
