Cold Start problem Mitsubishi Evo.

bevharris1938, Oct 12, 2:07am
Hello , just bought a worked evo (96) Problem is it wont start in the morning , get home at lunch time starts first pop. Runs on 98 oct. Any ideas what could be done! Car runs perfect all day , just the cold start. Its like starting an old escort in the morning with no choke.

Does it have good fuel pressure! and get the battery checked - loadtested

dasfi, Oct 12, 2:10am
My last mitsy did that, ended up replacing the dissy as it was the crank angle sensor or cam sensor from memory, was fine after that

bevharris1938, Oct 12, 2:15am
Battery and fuel pressure is fine , big aftermarket pump , and new batt.

ola_bitchola1, Oct 12, 2:17am
you say its worked ! running a aftermarket ecu could possibly be that the cold start tune hasnt be done correctly

bevharris1938, Oct 12, 2:20am
its running a Reflashed Evo 7 ECU (evoscan)

ola_bitchola1, Oct 12, 2:28am
could be the problem or the cold start injector isnt working properly

What are your injector latencies and scaling!

bevharris1938, Oct 12, 2:58am
sorry not sure.

savanna71, Oct 12, 3:01am
You will need to find out as this is more then likely the cause of the issue. When almost doubling the flow rate of injectors the scaling and latencies need to be adjusted before make any load or cold start enrichment map adjustments

bevharris1938, Oct 12, 3:06am
thanks savanna71 , might be a trip to tauranga to see brent at dynopower then. He told me today if it had a aftermarket ecu , there is a simple adjustment for cold starts. But this is a standard flashed ecu (evo7) so i dont know if there is an easy fix.

Since you must be using this vehicle purely for competitive racing this shouldn't be a problem, just race in the afternoons - problem solved.

not a morning car lol

bevharris1938, Oct 12, 4:33am
Correct , it's my afternoon car at the moment , morning car is a 93 laser 1.6L automatic.
