Hi all, am working on one of these at the moment. The dang thing wont go and keeps backfiring out the carby. Its in my stockcar.I have brought a new crank angle sensor and put this in.It seems to me that it is 180 degrees out.Help need to have it going by Saturday.

All the leads round the right way! What are you running it with! The standard ECU!

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 7:17am
Hi, no computer.Have checked the leads, they seem ok.

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 7:24am
It was running before we replaced the left hand head gasket if that is any help.

jmma, Oct 24, 7:38am
Recheck firing order (o:

okies,

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 7:41am
Thanks jmma, doing that now. Yup a VN with a carby.

steve56467, Oct 24, 7:49am
Carby on a VN! Checked the leads haven't been swapped over!

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 7:51am
Hi Steve the males are in the shed swearing at the thing, but I think it has something to do with it being in a stockcar. !

steve56467, Oct 24, 7:53am
My mini would do that if running lean.

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 7:54am
k will go tellthem, thanks.

steve56467, Oct 24, 7:59am
No, wait! Rich would make more sense, it would have been running rich to do that. Sorry! No doubt they have already looked at that, could very much be timing, hopefully some real mechanics will be along soon.p weston etc.

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 8:00am
lol thanks. They are having another go at the timing as we speak.Fingers crossed.

Make sure all the valves are closing but first make sure firing order is right and that your rotor is pointing to the right lead on your cap and put the hammer down it wont help

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 8:09am
Hi splinter, it dosen't have a rotor it has a coil pack.Thanks.

snoopy221, Oct 24, 8:11am
Fang a compression tester in the plug holes FIRST before the hammer.

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 8:14am
K will have a look at that tomorrow when we have got the compression tester from mate.

splinter67, Oct 24, 8:15am
ok now I know how you've got it running should have guessed that from the crank angle sensor how do all the electronics go with the knocks of a stockcar

splinter67, Oct 24, 8:17am
you know speedway people dont ya snoop

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 8:17am
Normally good, when we can get it to run.Has been going for the last four years.Just stuffed up now right when we need it to be going.

gmphil, Oct 24, 8:27am
Make sure the manifold is sealedproperly

splinter67, Oct 24, 8:31am
Good luck with it will come introduce myself when we come over that way for a look oh and thats the law of stockcars usually as your about to load up for an away meeting or as you go to take it off the trailer

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 8:34am
Thanks splinter, will be stockcar 29s when we get the bloody thing out there.

falconhell2002, Oct 24, 8:35am
Thanks gmphil they are going to pull the manifold off and seal it, they hoping that this is the problem.Your a legend!
