You been living under a rock for the last few years! The GT86 and the BRZ are a collaboration between Toyota and Subaru. Toyota handled much of the development and design while Subaru is handling the mechanicals and the actual production of the car. The engine is a Subaru unit with Toyota D4-S injection added. You will find Subaru stampings on both the GT86 and BRZ body parts, and the engine in both bears both the Subaru and Toyota badges together.
