extra mile auto!

intrade, Dec 3, 8:16am
if you ring them and they tell you where the trans code is then you got a good start, if they go ho hummm well maybe there ,um. you better bring it in. then it indicates possibile morons .that wont service it right in the end otherwiseyour better to sell it and keep the toyota you sell as that trans can take more abuse then a nissan one will

splinter67, Dec 3, 8:19am
cant remember they built a trans for me about 3 years ago was good as gold might get them to do another

A flush will cost around $300.

You can do a drain and refill, drive the car around the block, and do a drain and refill again (much cheaper than a flush). You can probably do this yourself with the help of YouTube.

And repeat the above process once a year. A proper transmission flush will be a bit of an overkill for such an old car in my opinion.

And I see, someone is trying to confuse you with funky names like "slush box"."band adjustments"."m-
agnets"."filter-
s".just ignore all that crap as a good second hand transmission can be sourced for the same amount of money as the actual service, should your one fail. Most older Jap cars have a gauze type strainer rather than a filter, so there's not much point in changing it.

intrade, Dec 3, 8:24am
jeez you morons why do you think they sell and make filters. the older it gets the more important correct servicing is. its probably because you moron fixcars incorrectlythat so mutch unserviced wrecks drive on the roads.

thats a picture ofcorrect procedure removal and exchange of filter
loads of fluid is trapped till you pull the filter and replace it.

Intrade, the transmission or the filter in that picture is absolutely nothing like the one in the Pulsar.

I've booked in, it's on the machine Friday.
Talked them into dropping their price by $60.00 to match others in the area but I still get all the added bits others don't include.

splinter67, Dec 4, 1:35am
Is that from extra mile

skyblue17, Dec 4, 3:29am
Just the kind of 'service' Id never recommend. Change the oil and tell the customer it's been serviced. Yuk.

mugenb20b, Dec 4, 4:13am
I suggested she does it herself.being an old car and all.the garage would never do this as they have to cover their bums, you see.

I also suggested doing a drain and refill a couple of times, taking the car for a drive between each oil drop. You have chosen to call this a 'service', not me.

FWIW just had wifes Mitsi Outlander CVT serviced by transmission specialists - $338. Included oil, filter and pan gasket.

TA's question was regarding a trans service. That is what you replied to. I can just imagine your 'service' of the trans is typical. Cynical of old cars so you do a half-pie job for the customer. Awesome bro.

jmma, Dec 4, 7:09am
At least he replied to OP's question, what have you offered.

mugenb20b, Dec 4, 7:24am
At no point did I say that our garage does a half-pie job "bro", so here, I'll say what I said earlier. I'll simplify my statement for you, let me know when sinks in, OK!

"OP can do her own transmission oil change at home to save money. The job may not be up to the transmission flush machine standard (which costs a lot of money), but close enough for an old car."

mrsscubasteve, Dec 4, 7:28am
No :( had to book in near work so I can walk there etc and work in TGA

splinter67, Dec 4, 7:31am
Cool as good that you talked them down on the price

mrsscubasteve, Dec 4, 7:57am
Yeah I asked why the difference in prices between other places etc etc and he explained it, thought it over and dropped $60 after me asking abit more about other businesses so I'm getting more for less.

The pulsar I just brought is near perfect for its age and were looking to buy a house shortly so I need to do well by it and look after it as its for my daily rotorua-tauranga commute

supernova2, Dec 4, 8:19am
Luckily for all its not there any more!
Edit to add not extra mile but the Ngongotaha Automatics - the place that burnt down.
