Oh, Wait, Forgot to mention, White cars are DEFINATELY gay. Ha ha.

berg, Dec 6, 7:30pm
Probably (as much as I hate to admit it) the Ford as it has the bigger engine. The ford will possibly be a tad cheaper to run as well as, being a slightly larger engine, you won't be needing to wring its neck quite so hard. As a Suzuki swift owner I can vouch for their bombproof reliability but I have the 1600 sport version. Not so sure regarding the Ford reliability.

that madel fiesta isnt a girls car its grannys car i would not buy the current suzuki over the current fiesta but that model fiesta was very gay

A bloke we (oldies) know has a Toyota funcargo. I said to my wife of many years, "Could you see me in one of them!"
She, "Maybe, probably not, but I wouldn't be sitting beside you"

zetec, Dec 7, 6:59am
Ha, it is obvious 3tomany has never driven "that" model of Fiesta.

The 1600 WQ Fiesta is a good performer, low geared so plenty of acceleration, maybe could do with a 6th gear at highway speeds. It would definitley outperform a 1300 Swift, and also the 1500 Swift. it is also better priced than a Swift.

We have the Fiesta as our second car, no reliability issues, they are built to a price but are fun to drive, more power then the 1600 Escort Sport I had many years ago.

I drive a Mazda Demio and don't really worry about what people think. It is quite nice to drive a car that I am not worried about if it gets dented or scratched.

Edit: and do over 60km per day.

sparkyz, Dec 7, 7:49am
A car is a means to safely and comfortably get from A to B. If a small car is the best option for your circumstances, then go for it.
My niece has a Swift Sport. Great nippy little car around town and fun on the hills. Plenty of headroom for the taller blokes too!

r.g.nixon, Dec 7, 7:51am
I drive smaller.
Subaru Ace 800cc.
I have nothing to prove!

3tomany, Dec 7, 7:48pm
Yes i have driven that model and yes the driving dynamics are great but op's question is would he look like a girl! I simply said he wouldnt look like a girl more like a granny

gammelvind, Dec 7, 7:59pm
One word. Multipla!

vivac, Dec 7, 9:08pm
A friend of mine has a Vitz, its coolness is helped by the fact it has an HKS supercharger kit on it, which actually makes it a pretty fun drive.
You only ned to worry about looking girly if you drive a new beetle convertable with your spice girls cd stuck on max volume.

vtecintegra, Dec 7, 9:10pm
Yeah it'd be interesting to see if they've made 6th much taller than the old 5th or just crammed everything closer together

About 4 years ago we had a new Maxima with all the goodies.Looked the part but neither of us really liked driving it.Looked about and now have a Kia Cerato hatch. It does everything we need. Its quick, its cheap, its economical, airbags everywhere.I'm 6.2 and could wear a top hat inside it if I wanted - amazing.Only potential downfall is it will be worth bugga all when we go to sell it.We overcame that by not buying new but at Turners of all places, and paid $6k less than the exact same car at the local Kia dealer.Had it 3yrs and hasn't had any problems at all.I'm guessing the Hyundai version would be pretty much the same.

gilco2, Dec 7, 10:07pm
I now drive a Toyota Ractis high seating and plenty leg room front and rear. May be an ugly car but very practical. Dont care what it looks like or what other people think. Economical to boot.

elenor, Dec 7, 11:53pm

mrfxit, Dec 8, 12:22am
I leave the wife's Atessa at home & take the 2.4T Surf.

splinter67, Dec 8, 12:25am

webworth, Dec 8, 1:20am
Or, if you want to be thrifty and macho, get a motorbike!

vivac, Dec 8, 3:04am
True, all the gas money you save could pay for your funeral.

wrong2, Dec 11, 6:52am
SuperMini fans are numerous

but we only make up a small percentage overall of car fans

harry353, Dec 11, 7:15am
Same here. Drive the Swift as a daily then the 60's V8 for enjoyment.

chebry, Dec 11, 6:41pm
Had a Swift as a loaner for a while not bad on gas but when I needed a new car I bought a Citroen diesel hatch and compared to that the swift is crap in every way, comfort, performance, economy, No idea what size engine the swift had but if I wound it up the fuel econmy readout said nasty things and poor grip in the wet. You wont like it stepping out of a Dore except maybe the gas if you keep you hoof out of it.

darryl, Dec 11, 8:27pm
I quite like the Swift. It's a manual, so its like driving a go kart everyday.

audi_s_ate, Dec 11, 9:28pm
It's a bit longer geared - 100km/h is around 2600rpm - Im fairly sure the older ones are over 3000rpm. I was impressed with the couple I drove - debating over one vs an 86.
