Nissan Expert Speedo Error Q.

neville48, Dec 19, 8:23am
I have a 2004 nissan expert and at 100km the speedo reads 110km. It has the correct size tyres, is this an electronic problem and ideas for a fix please.

Most cars read fast

neville. looking at the most simple solution. How certain are you that the vehicle is definitely fitted with the correct size tyres!
Factory tyres are pretty small. Something like 165/70/14 from memory.
Not being a smart alec here but its one possibility

With standard tyres, 100km/h at verified (ie GPS) 100km/h seems a little high perhaps, but not unusual. At 100km/h our three vehicles read 100km/h (old Safari) , 106km/h and 108km/h.
If you check your odometer, you'll probably find that's close to spot-on.

My hack Avenir "gopher" wagon is about 5kmph too high at 100km

SorryNeville I hadn't had my morning coffee. I was talking the nissan AD not the avenir expert.
The expert "factory" tyre is a 165 r15 which is quite a high profile tyre kinda like an 80 series. Its most likely you have 175/65/15 on the car

neville48, Dec 20, 2:14am
The car has 175/65/14 as per the sticker in the rear door jamb so that must be factory ! To the other posters telling me they are that far out with their speedo's, mine is 10% out, thats not good enough and that just adds to the total mileage as well, there must be an adjustment to the electronics somewhere, hence the post.Any more help or advice, cheers Nev.

i asked the nissan poeple thay said thay could not adjust it . my bluebird was about 15ks out at 100. was told by a wreacker to take out the speed sender . clean it and put it back in . this did work for awhile . but went out by 20ks at 100. so i brought a sat nav . now i have 2 nagging woman telling me iam going to fast hahah

robinson instruments can supply a adjustable unit to alter signals and correct speedo or they are listed for motor bikes for when changing to different sprockets

Nissan speedos and rev counters are adjustable it will need to be dismantled and a hole drilled in case for adjustment access however I am not sure if you would get 10 kmh adjustment out of it. They also suffer from leaky capacitors which can affect speed reading. Speeds should be close to exact not high as mentioned in here a lot.
