hi every bodyam looking to buy my daughter a car, we like the look of a 1999 toyota truenothat has done 105 000 km ,at what stage should the cam belt have been changedand how much would this cost !any thing else i should be looking out for on a car like this ,,thank,s and a merry christmas to you all !

most likely every 100,000km dont trust them if they tell you it was done. out of all cars i purchased i was told they where done only one was done for real the rest of the sellers all lied .

Cambelt is/was due at 100k Not recomended butJUST replacing the cambelt will cost around $250. allowing its a 1500 or 1600 16 valve engine then I'd budget $800 This will do the crank end seal,cam end seal.belt.tensioners and water pump.

as for cost depends on engine if waterpump is cam driven then you change that also plus all oil seals like cam and oilpump crank seal etc. some more seals depending on engine. code is on the plate under bonnet on any toyota engine number.
