would seem silly to chuck money at replacing things without diagnosing. besides symptoms dont fit a crank/cam sensor fault

The person that suggested the power supply or ground problem somewhere is on to it, CAS or immobiliser probs don't cause complete electrical shutdowns. The fact that no DTC's are being logged is suspicious, engine control module, among others, wouldn't be retaining codes if they were losing power all the time.

Not always. The likes of SRS codes maybe but not powertrain ones. Also depends on the nature of the problem/what the code type is with modern GM stuff.

My 1994 Telstar V6 had the exact same symptoms. Was the ignition module.

Module will only kill spark, not all dash electrics
