Exemption A and diesel mileage.

I'm looking at getting a diesel ute that is currently registered with exemption A.The owner tells me that I can use it to go to work and back in because I live less than 26km from work and also that I won't have to pay diesel mileage. True! Also, if one day I decided to put a regular rego on it would I have to pay for all the k's that have been clocked up while it has been exempted!

wrong you will have to pay all them overdue miles he clocked up.
you can only drive offroad 7km and 21km if yo own 2 farms to get to the other farm on a farm license , any other form of exemption does not allow you to travel to work or god knows where else public road use = roaduser charges. and there is huge fines if you get caught.
i would buy a Lpg gasute instead.

Still subject to WOF regs
Rucs still apply

Exception from Rucs is for OFF PUBLIC roads only

ANY outstanding ruc's STAY with the vehicle regardless of current owner

26km is wrong. i understand its 11km by road from home/base, 21km round trip. i have a daihatsu tip truck/farm truck that is on genuine farm reg. No WOF/COF, no RUC's, $48 a year to rego. but use it for farm activities within 10km from home.
