Mazda CX-7

I have just purchased a Mazda CX-7. It is a 2007 Japanese import model.
It has a button on the dash to the right of the steering wheel (next to the TCS button that disables the traction control). Said button has "PB OFF" written on it and when I push it, it displays on the dash as "PB Long" or "PB Short".
Does anyone have any idea what this is or does as the NZ user manual, dealer, local Mazda agent and Mazda NZ have no idea and Google is not my friend on this.
Any help appreciated as it is driving me crazy having a button and not knowing what it does.

PB- is a function of the RADAR cruise control and varies the smoothness of braking when you use it. I think it stands for Positive Braking. Short is for short sharp braking (good for city traffic), long is for long smooth braking (so better for the open road with not many cars).

Awesome, thanks very much for that it's been doing my head in trying to find this out. Makes perfect sense now. Do you know how this effects the braking if it is off but cruise control is on and in use?
