Even worse , wobble plate AC car comps have 4 pistons & only have about an egg cup full of oil , no sump Must have an oil separator to prevent loss of the oil & they dont like air -too dirty . Better to buy a propper 12 v comp

This is a York a/c pump like what came out on early falcons etc. They have an oil sump and can make 300psi easy. Just add a pressure switch to control the electric clutch and a tank and you're off.

surprisingly enough that setup works very well and out performs almost all 12v setups.
there is a commercial version of this available. http://www.endlessair.com.au/

grease is often used so you don't get oil in the air. but you can run oil. typically use a big lubricator but need to run a filter after the compressor to catch the oil (and water) so you don't get oil in the tires.
the advantage is you can also use the rotary compressor.

if something like the york is more appealing there is plenty of truck air compressors around. just cost a whole lot more than what 2nd hand aircon compressors are worth.

^^ ^^is this mounted on the engine in place of or extra to the AC . agree with the grease solution re oil engine heat would keep it soft enough to lube . Also plenty of Rangie compressors around from those that have converted to coils or wrecked ones . if they have enough capacity /pressure to pump up tyres .

No8 wire is taking control!
Jeez - $250 for a proper pump is chicken-shit, compared to the stuffing around of trying to make something work. and it's only a maybe at that.

Time is irrelevant to the satisfaction of making it work at a minimal cash outlay
