It's clearly an import and the function isn't available in NZ.

Every time I go through a fast food lane I press the ABS button ten times.
It works, I still have great ABS under a thick insulation layer!

I feel your frustration! The amount of times I've driven to the mountain with the snow button on only to be burdened by slow take offs and no new snow on arrival makes me think it's just a gimmick, I'd expect more from Subaru. Might have to research aftermarket buttons I think!

Maybe it needs to be reset for the Southern Hemisphere

You need to remove the snow button and rotate it 180 deg for it to work, because we are "down under" in the Southern Hemisphere. Currently, every time you press the button the snow is falling towards the sky.

it was brewing off the coast but you turned it off again & then we only got a near miss cyclone
