I never got to drive one. can only repeat what I've been told & read over the years. Always stuck in my mind, I remember standing looking at a brand new white one at work many moons ago & amazed that Clyde Collins was going to race it. what a waste!

Goin back a lot of years BUT-and i may be wrong-got a feeling a few of the whites were sig brock cars ((Best VH to find would be one of the 30 SS models (29 white & 1 black) made in Trentham for the B&H race series.))
Have even recently had email conversation with a customer that wants to get a HDT build plate (for his one) as these cars 'deserved it'. 'sorry sir HDT do not want to supply as not one of thei]

I suspect it was more of a case of trying to dispose of VK parts, they had to stop selling VK's abruptly in Australia the end of 1985 due to the upcoming unleaded fuel requirement and get VL on stream VERY quickly.

don't forget the VD, they were usually cheap and could be picked up round the back carpark of the pub.

Holden NZ commissioned Brock to come over & help design the mods for the cars. They were all NZ built cars. Got the Holden dealer letter & Holden parts yearbook with all the specs & part numbers of what was changed/used in them. HDT have no record of the cars - was def Holden NZ conjured up thing. Reasonably good spec & pretty quick as no smog gear fitted.

Maybe they did the VA to tide them over until they had saved up enough money to buy the VL's from Holden aussie.
And then Holden NZ stuffed up the VL's paint jobs. lol. How many roofs etc were repainted for free after the fairgo program?

4.2 litre SLX VH commodores did make it here. Ebbetts in Cambridge had one, and a family friend had one. Went very well. Both were Tahitian blue with silver two tone.
