i have a vh commodore with a 253 v8,

car or wagon ?

safteystv, Jun 8, 9:11am
do you want early factory 4 speed or toyota 5 speed , two different bolt pattrens on holden v8s , early holden 4 speeds are getting old , look up the t5 tremec holds onto 300 ftlbs of torque , when i checked a couple of years ago 5 speed supra box in set up $2500 .

ridiculousness, Jun 8, 10:05am
Ahhhh the good ole trusty 253ci boat mooring! LOL

patiki1, Jun 8, 10:32am
I would go for a T5 or a supra 5 speed.Try Dellow,Crs or Conversion Components.

snoopy221, Jun 8, 10:39am
Get back to me k i think i KNOW what you have K

franc123, Jun 8, 11:38am
Ya us blue oval boyz nose what you guys have, a donk dat don't even have the tork twisties of the 250 xflow even wif da 2 extra pots aye. Wasta the time needing a T5 gearbox methinks. go with the yota.

snoopy221, Jun 8, 11:46am

Car Or Wagon?

treachug, Jun 8, 7:22pm
you thinking white or red?

3tomany, Jun 9, 5:58am
call me dumb I am a ford guy but what is a VH commodore I thought they were va. vb, vk, vl, then on to vn etc so I can not picture a vh.

3tomany, Jun 9, 6:02am

dvince, Jun 9, 8:55am
No such thing as a VA, but there was a VC (with the egg crate grill)

mkenzi, Jun 9, 9:13am
vh was manufactured between 1981 - 1984

treachug, Jun 9, 9:30am
Actually there is a VA Commodore model. NZ built VK series II were tagged with the letter A instead of K on the end of the vin number terming the model VA.
People who called the face lifted VK's 'VK & 1/2' were/are wrong.

snoopy221, Jun 9, 9:39am
VK & 1/2'= VA

franc123, Jun 9, 9:44am
I was waiting for you to insert that! Its not a well known fact that one, the VA was a model that didn't exist in Australia, only here. As for a factory 4.2 VH, wasn't a model officially sold here? Would be pretty rare even if it was, VH in NZ were 1900, 3300 and 5044, don't recall any 4200's. It was common enough in Oz market SL/E versions and optional on the others.

snoopy221, Jun 9, 9:57am
Was an AUSTRUKN franc123 only ever seen ONE

franc123, Jun 9, 10:08am
Only ever seen one too, it was an automatic 4.2 SL wagon in a beige colour and was badged as such, and appeared to be a used import as it had reflectorised plates instead of black and silvers which of course all or nearly all NZ new VH had. IIRC it was being fuelled at a servo in the central NI when I saw it in the late 80's.

snoopy221, Jun 9, 10:14am
K this one was green IIRC was rotovegas RM Transport/Wrightcars 80;s days weight balance s/w length and v8 spring and sway bar fact package and damn that was a wagon that WOULD-WAY Outdrive most cars walkies and sig Brocks incl.

dvince, Jun 9, 10:31am
My bad, I'm only familiar with Australian models (having lived there in the 80's and 90's).
LOL at the Royale and 2.0L VL onwards.

treachug, Jun 9, 10:34am
Best VH to find would be one of the 30 SS models (29 white & 1 black) made in Trentham for the B&H race series. Hot-rods in disguise these 'road' cars were faster than some of Brocks versions.

snoopy221, Jun 9, 10:37am
Disagree driven most of em 5 whites and the black

treachug, Jun 9, 10:43am
They were just a facelifted VK with different interior trim, single slot grille etc to tide the country cousins in NZ over until the VL finally arrived here.

Royales were actually reasonably well received & popular. Spec'd slightly below VH SL/E & VK & VL Calais models they were a 'class' car lol

treachug, Jun 9, 10:52am
I never got to drive one. can only repeat what I've been told & read over the years. Always stuck in my mind, I remember standing looking at a brand new white one at work many moons ago & amazed that Clyde Collins was going to race it. what a waste!
Have even recently had email conversation with a customer that wants to get a HDT build plate (for his one) as these cars 'deserved it'. 'sorry sir HDT do not want to supply as not one of their cars'
