Speedo stuck.

70's japanese cable drive speedo stuck at 70kph.
Noticed last time out speedo was a bit slow to react to speed changes, now needle stopped.
Mileage still goin up, assume not a cable problem.
Any suggestions as to where to send it to appreciated,
Muzz.

Pull the cluster out, crc the speedo needle bearing & a touch of machine oil afterwards

We are so lucky to have an intelligent person with us this evening.

Normally a .
Slow down in needle response will be a dry bearing
Erratic needle can be oil in the cable or a fraying cable
Jumping needle (large jumps) will often be a broken cable & the end bits snatching at each other, OR a missing tooth on the drive gear (either end)
A needle that simply sticks in place at a set point & can be (often) made to return by giving the gauge cluster a good thump, will be a buckled cluster face or peeling paint catching the needle or bent plastic needle, (or it's already been apart & the twit bent the needle).

Not always but more often then not.

These guys usually cheaper
http://www.eparrott.co.nz/ than these https://www.robinsoninstruments.co.nz/
Another option is fine a good clock/watch repairer.
