I originally thought so too, but it was pointed out that the Austins had running boards.

Not all of them - how about this one:

In the previous one everything else looked right - shape of wings, bumper windscreen, etc.

It does look like it with different handrails, wow, around 1960 then

Think you might be right.
The bumper is the correct length as in short of the width of the wheel base.
Would the shiny bit on the left side of the grill be an AA badge?

Sorry budgel, but No. 3 is an A40 Devon! (it seems to have extra lights fitted.) I looked up A70 Hampshires but they are quite a bit bigger and have inboard headlamps like Jaguars.

Tmenz: No. 2 . Yes it could be an Austin - 1938-39 Big 7! If so, it has lost the Austin script from the grille but gained a badge on the left side. Front-hinged doors (about the only redeeming feature of that model) and narrow body width point to that, as does supernova's description.

I zoomed the pic up and it looks like it does have running boards on it?
Appears like front hinged front doors and suicide rear doors ( door handles at 'B' pillars area.
Can see the top hinge on L R door too quite clearly, possibly has a rear body window behind rear doors but not clearly visable in pic.
It could actually be an Austin Sherborne 1936.which is a modernized Litchfield any case . definitely pre WW2 with that grille, which looks like it's missing the Austin script?
Used to do work on one of those old girls about 40 years ago . a 1937 model. exactly like this one.
