Austin 10 or Morris 10 most likely the Morris.

bwg11, Sep 29, 5:27am
1) Ford Consul Mk1 - Yes
2) Maybe Singer ?
3) Austin A40 - Yes
4) Vauxhall Wyvern or Velox

slarty45, Sep 29, 5:29am
3) Austin A40? A40 Devon

tmenz, Sep 29, 5:37am
I still reckon 4) is a Vanguard - looks like it could be the station wagon or panel van version!

Vauxhall LIP is my guess

ema1, Sep 29, 9:25am
#2 looks like Austin 10 or Hillman or Singer pre ww2 model?. #4 definitely a 1950-1 Vauxhall LIP Velox

ema1, Sep 29, 9:49am
#2 Austin 10 Litchfield.

ema1, Sep 29, 10:08am
#4 has strakes down the bonnet sides only Vauxhall had that feature. actually they were a Vauxhall trade mark. That model the LIP/LBP went from around 1948 to 1951.
Drive a number of them years ago, some were 4 cylinder Wyvern but mostly the 6 cylinder Velox .

poppy62, Sep 29, 12:28pm
Missed the ? on #4 It definitely looks like a LIP Vauxhall.

supernova2, Sep 29, 12:55pm
Nah. Litchfield has runningboards
The screen shape (looks flat on top) is more like a Humber. But I think it's too small to be a Humber.

Is that the Penrose rd over bridge?

mojo49, Sep 29, 2:54pm
#2 looks like late 1930s Morris 8. The grill looks right for an M8. I had a 1934 M8 and it had wire wheels. That one looks like solid steel wheels introduced later in the 30's.

mojo49, Sep 29, 2:55pm
Agree #4 Vauxhall.

# 4 Looks like a LIP Vauxhall

tmenz, Sep 29, 3:26pm
If it is then wow, how things have changed.

dublo, Sep 29, 3:33pm
1 Definitely Ford Consul Mark 1!
2 Definitely NOT an Austin, Ford, Hillman, Morris, Rover, Standard, Vauxhall or Wolseley late 1930s - 1940s 8 - 10hp car (searched my Classic and Sports Car A-Zs of Cars of 1930s and 1945-1970!) It has the appearance of your basic British type and seems to have front-hinged front doors - unusual at that time. Will search further afield.
3 Definitely Austin A40 Devon!
4 Definitely Vauxhall LIX Wyvern or LIP Velox!
Now, what about the cars further back along the road and in the other lanes?

mojo49, Sep 29, 3:44pm
#2. Well spotted dublo. The mystery deepens. Racking the brain to think of a front hinged front door car of maybe the 1940s. Agree that eliminates those on your list.

No4 is an old Vauxhall before the EIP shape. Passenger in the Consul looks like she's about to put her head on his lap--can't think why--ummm.

poppy62, Sep 30, 3:57am
These old bangers really kept obesity at bay. You'd never get 3 in the front of those Mk1 consuls/zephyrs with today's bodies.

lauzie, Sep 30, 4:44am
I reckon its a Wolseley 10-12hp to small for a Citroen.

budgel, Sep 30, 6:12am
I'm not sure that number three is an A40 Devon. The grille looks too tall, and there appears to be some secondary lights inboard of the headlamps.

No2 Wolsley Hornet?
