Does your car reflect who you are?

gyrogearloose, Sep 27, 3:13am
Yes, I can see my reflection in each of the mirrors.

gpg58, Sep 27, 3:18am
1989 hino house bus - sky blue (best value i found)
2013 dc 4wd navara - black (i like black, did choose it new)
1990 1000cc toyota starlet - mid/dark red (zero electronics and tidy)
2020 Holden spark lt - dark grey (best color left, gets the most use)
2020 Holden Astra rsv - hot red.(best colour left, hated silver alternative)

all solely for my own use, and do get driven(single older guy), depending on my mood on any given day, or which is convenient for where i am going or what i am doing.
So you tell me what each says?
Imo, sometimes a vehicle may say something about a person, but often it does not, as lots simply buy the one that was the right price on that day, and ticked most boxes of interest to them.

Would that not come down to, is the car purchased for purely practical reasons or as a passion. Eg.

You drive a family wagon because you have a family but you would prefer to drive a 2dr roadster. Then again in that situation your car says you are a family person.

cjohnw, Sep 27, 4:20am
Possibly does.
The guy over the road from me owns a nice looking Maserati.
But he sits in his driveway revving the crap out of it and scaring local pets and the birds out of the trees!
That says he is a twat!

gusthe1, Sep 27, 4:30am
that would require me to give a toss what others think of me or my car

socram, Sep 27, 4:34am
Depends which car? It is still me behind the wheel.

I drive them all the same way, which is briskly, economically, carefully. If others want to make a judgement on who I am or what I am, that is very much their issue. Not mine.

I bought my most frequently used car 47 years ago, and it is now 50 years old and near 232000 miles on the odometer. Our youngest one, bought 11 years ago, is only 21. (There are 2 others, one 43 years old and owned since 2002, and another 57 years old, bought in 1969.) What does that say about me?

gph1961, Sep 27, 5:27am
dinners at 4.30pm

bitsy_boffin, Sep 27, 5:28am
Daihatsu Midget II - so probably says I'm a bit unhinged, which is fair.

sr2, Sep 27, 5:42am
I'd say it far more reflects on the person asking the question?

curlcrown, Sep 27, 5:46am
Must be a lot of people here with some sort of multiple personality disorder.

My car says that I'm a conceited, insecure little $h1t.
My car is wrong.

schnauzer11, Sep 27, 9:04am
This poster, 'Matthew', who lives in Aus, has started crap threads in a few categories. I'd ignore.

strobo, Sep 27, 6:14pm
Unfounded allegation and why? ,I don't see the problem! Its a fair thread title and is getting good comeback and most can make their own minds up with interactions .

amasser, Sep 27, 7:29pm
I don't talk Enginish.

holly-rocks, Sep 27, 7:53pm
We have a collection of classics, my fav will always be my 1949 Mercury. People say it suits us :)

bill-robinson, Sep 27, 7:56pm
you should adjust the mirrors so they can be used properly

dublo, Sep 27, 8:44pm
No, too busy working on the old cars to keep them going at that time of the afternoon!

kazbanz, Sep 28, 1:01am
That I couldn't care less what I drive

sparkyz, Sep 28, 2:12am
Mine has company signwriting, so shows I work for a living!

socram, Sep 28, 2:18am
Ours have personalised plates so that friends know who is waving at them.

gph1961, Sep 28, 3:35am
sorry to hear that!

zlordapple, Sep 28, 3:59am
What do you think about a guy driving a MINI?
Is there still a generalization of those who drive a Volvo?
