EBIKE. [sort of motoring]. when should I charge the battery of my ebike. Every time I use it or only when its run down. Should I charge it straight away or is it alright to leave for a week or longer or ? before I charge it. any correct info would be awesome cheers.

If your bike has the function use the 80% charge. Operate it between 20% and 80% for optimum life

car GM volt cuts all power at 20% battery , to stop underdischarge.
what you should is not charge it straight after use .You want to let it cool down then charge it then rest it then use it like them nissan leaf with no active cooling if you want it to last. and hope it has good battery balancing charge system.

The other point to consider is that you can spend all this effort using only 60% of the capacity of the battery to ensure that you retain the capacity, or just run all the capacity and after a few years, you might just have 60% of the capacity left anyway.

I think there is no need to charge it is you've only done a short trip and there is plenty of charge left, but if you've used a lot, may as well charge it, as you might want to do a long trip in the afternoon.

Lithem batteries like to be in a middling state of charge (unlike lead acid batteries which like to be kept at a high state of charge).

If you can keep the charge level between 30% and 80% that would be best.

My leaf has a setting to stop charging at 80%, and I charge every night to 80%, regardless of level of charge. If your bike had that function I would do that.

Otherwise I would run it down to 50% before I charge it (however many days that takes).

Obviously meeting your needs takes priory over battery health.

intrade is correct that charging a hot battery is more harmfull. If the battery is warm to the tough it is best to wait for a bit.

That said it is only really fast charging that adds heat to a nissan leaf battery. E-scooter's typically charge slow.

do you have a screen on your E bike that shows how much battery you have left, If you have a long trip planned and know you will be using it the next day then charge it the night before, As others say 30 to 80% and if you arent using it for a while dont store away on full charge.I find with an Ebike you need to plan ahead a bit and remember DONT charge if you arent using it.
