Thanks for the compliments mate. As to your pecker query. I don't know! I usually faint as there's not enough blood for my brain and organ, but I know she smiles a lot. There's another 3 cameras (2x canon 1 x pentax) in the house but she wants something else for as mentioned plus macro photography. Anyway just bought a Sony cybershot off a Yank in as new condition gets a 5 star rating by reviewers. She's very happy. When/If she does well I'll upgrade.

Nice one mate. Good choice.
Yeah I’d disagree with Mals statement above about only two manufacturers.
Fujifilm, Sony and Panasonic are right up there. In fact there are many who say Canon have slipped way back after leading the world in camera innovation for years. Their plastic lenses are basically cheap crap designed as kit lenses to keep prices down. The cheap Chinese glass is third rate IMO.
Hope your missus enjoys the camera. Happy shooting!

I doubt that a 48 megapixel phone camera is going to take better photos than an older DSLR, because there isn't much room for a large sensor and lens on a phone and also the lens is going to get smudges and scratcheds on it easily.

This isn't 1995 anymore. Many professionals are turning to Sony and Fuji. That's why there was pressure on Canon and Nikon to come out with new ILCM cameras to replace their DSLRs.

Just some examples of what's going on in the professional world.

Really nice shots mate. Congrats.
I am finding myself shooting much more with the little RX100 VII, than lugging the A7 RII around.
These new mirrorless cameras are really nice and I see Fuji just won a professional photographers award for best pro camera.
Might have to save up! Lol.

Jesus2000, Are Sony cameras able to be serviced? I know Nikon and Canon are. In the past if a Sony had a problem it was "throw it away and buy another one."

jesus2000, Oct 13, 5:11am
I don't know as I use Fuji. I do know I can send my Fuji off for servicing if need be.

cjohnw, Oct 13, 5:22am
Yep, absolutely!
I shoot with Sony gear.
Sony have a service centre in Auckland.
Most Sony cameras can be serviced or repaired.
I am not sure of their position on gear purchased outside NZ, but should imagine it would not be a problem.

Do they just. Heres a few names for you. Hasselblad, rollei, schneder, leica, zuiko. you may recognize that last one haveing owned an olympus, or not.

cjohnw, Oct 13, 9:24am
What’s normal?
No such thing.
Especially for a “keen amateur” shooting in manual mode.

Well the motorbike ones are more regular daytime photos I suppose. https://flic.kr/p/29v9qVD
