I regret buying my first car, a '78 Mazda RX-7 series 1, it was an absolute heap of sh*t.Everyone told me to not buy a rotary because the engine would break down, well this car had a 12A tallport taken from a later series 3 RX-7 and the engine never missed a beat. But everything else in the car was shagged.

1966 Fiat Crusader 1500cc, twin carb.when it went, it went real fast.stuck to the road like you know what to a blanket, dragged off holdens, falcs and other sundry stuff.BUT the spark plug gap widened often which means it wouldn't start -so there you are, 10;30pm in the pub car park after a big sess whipping out a couple of plugs , skinning a couple of knuckles and tapping the plugs closed a bit and then when purring along at say 120 ks the bloody lights go out for no reason or the complete dashboard starts flicking like crazy traffic lights or the heater dumps a load of scalding water on your feet- scary stuff.and the local mechanic flees in fear every time ( say weekly) I bring it in for some repair as he has to read the handbook for an hour or so to diagnose the (usually recurring) problem.sold it and got a1300 Ford Escort- thrashed it for 6 years- never missed a beat .

1975 Peugot 504, heap of junk, odo showed about 75ks and never changed. A petrol swallower, lucky to get 25 mpg. The only good thing about, it sat on the road nice,

Worst car was a 'sucker job" I brought from auction.
89 2lt Mitsi Galant
Checked it over (including oil levels etc) before the auction/ bid /paid & picked up the car.
While driving it home, it started smoking REALLY REALLY BAD.
Turns out that between me doing MY inspection & the auction it's self, some numnuts had tipped a fresh 4 ltr bottle of oil (oil bottle was in the boot) in to the motor (believing it to be a bit low) & it got sucked up in to the cylinders while I was driving it home. Cracked the head & blew the head gasket

Agree - bought a 2002 Civic from Turners which had broken down within a day,Has had electrics messed round with & has been as unreliable as anything else I've had & they're too complex to work on except by the franchise

Mitsubishi Sigma SE (86 I think).Had everything - speed sensitive wipers, climate air, cruise control, electric dash, plush interior, electric windows, plus all of the other bits you might want.Even NZ from New.Biggest piece of crap I have ever owned.Things broke on it constantly, cost a bomb to keep the thing going.I had it for 1 year I think it was, spent thousands, sold it at Turners while it was all good.Found it a couple of years later and asked the new owner how it had been - apparently the auto crapped out not long after I sold it (auto was fine when I sold it).Comfortable car to drive. Terrible car for maintenance. It was also VERY slow - I have a 1300cc corolla for a while after that, and it was faster than the 2.0 Sigma :-)

Next worse was a new Daewoo Lacetti (work vehicle). Had all sorts of problems, including the fact that when you took your foot off the gas, it would carry on revving for a couple of seconds.Made for terrible gear changes, and dangerous if you gave it the gas to get into a gap in traffic.Glad to see the back of that one.Plus Holden dealership were very unhelpful with it, and even tried to tell me that the revving problem didn't exist - funny that someone else came into the dealership while I was there to complain about it, so we compared stories.Certainly wouldn't get a daewoo until they lift their game.
