would the running gear from a 91 vn fit into a 95 vs! loom,ecu etc!

It won't work, I suppose with the full VN loom etc, but why bother! An Ecotec is as cheap as chips.

the "Buick" V6 from the VN and the "Ecotec" from the VS are 2 completely different engines using a different management system.

It's not a straight forward job and no-one will buy it if they have any idea of what they are looking for. The VS has the transponder key set up, so the loom/ecu will have to be changed, the trans was controlled differently, so the trans loom or trans will have to go, also the VN only makes around 121kw, vs 147. It will be a prick of a job and not worth it to be fair. It would be far cheaper to buy an ecotec and slap it into the VS, then flog it off.
