I've been about eighteen months without a V8, untill a couple of weeks ago.arhhh the joy and big smile per mile.

gunhand, Feb 5, 12:44am
Oh I think I might of understood possably what he may have been getting at but He wrote the quote lol. And yes ive drivin late model V8s and so fourth. It takes abit to impress me.
But it was interesting how people seemed to think any V8 mustang was some kinda power pack and to be feared. It was a pretty slow old girl. But the HP 289 was something else in its day.

chris241, Feb 5, 12:46am
ii dont know if it just me but i dislike thoes toyota v8s they just dont sound the same. I dont what it is there just diffrent somehow. Maybe its the quad cam!

G'day boys i've had my VP SS commodore now for 5 years and i still love her.the rumble is 2nd to none. However i have just bought my first road bike gpx250 and i must say in this weather the holden has been parked up, well driven at least twice a week i guess.Thinking of selling her and getting my ss ute i've always wanted, sleek, sexy and grunty, big boar and Black with black leather interior.Ooooo the dream.I guess i can ask my husband for an early birthday present.

icemans1, Feb 5, 8:57am
i'm hoping to get my first V8 for my 50th, which is 4 years away, in the meantime i'm stuck my V6 calais lol

scotty20001, Feb 5, 1:09pm
im talking about late model Falcons and Commodores you know around 5.3 secs 0-100.

scotty20001, Feb 5, 1:18pm
ok im sorry is the ALLOYTEC V6 designed and built in Australia NOT A CURRENT ENGINE! it was in the 2010 Commodore last time i looked, idiot. think before you type.

johnf_456, Feb 5, 1:46pm
Idiot never said all, this is through holdens history to spell it out. To spell it out yes some eng are oz built. Keyword some but not all. Or do i need to spell it out more. You have also failed to read where i said all / every eng is not oZ built funny that. Stop been ignorant cause not everything holden is oz engineering sorry to say. Read before you type, like i have told you at least three times.

So by your knowledge gm chev have not influenced holden one bit

lookoutas, Feb 5, 2:19pm
Jeez - a guy comes on here stoked to the brim coz he's just got a V8, and you buggars turn it into a scrap.
Ozzie's never built anything of their own design, be it any make of vehicle. But they did pinch what they liked, modified it to suit, and then built their own version. Nothing wrong with that!

johnf_456, Feb 5, 2:28pm
Yip sure are not truly oz only

falcon-hell, Feb 5, 4:13pm
exactly-go the mighty 8.

by_hdt, Feb 5, 4:33pm
What about the VE Commodore, its all aussie (except for the V8 engine) ditto the XA-onwards Falcons, can't buy them anywhere else, The Holden Grey-Red-Blue-Black sixes were all aussie, as was Fords crossflow 3.3 and 4.1's, as well as the later 3.9's, 4.0's and the fabulous 4.0 turbo engine, 253's and 308's are also an all aussie design, as well as Torana's and Sunbirds. Holden's latest Cruze Hatchback is also designed in Australia and will soon be manufactured in.you guessed it Australia.

So saying aussies dont make anything of their own design is a little incorrect.

chris_051, Feb 5, 4:41pm
No the old 308/253/304 is a fully Oz BUILT AND DESIGNED engine, no US influence. And although the ford I6 was originally a US design 50 years on and it is pretty safe to say it is an all Aussie designed and built engine which can mix it with the best of them.

nzshooter01, Feb 5, 7:06pm
just got my first v8 a cple months back, VN Calias 308, and i LOVE it, lol

lookoutas, Feb 5, 7:43pm
OK - so I shouldn't have used "design" but they did pinch and modify.
I have a 73 Mustang and when I owned one back in the 80's, the best spare parts dept was the local wreckers yard where dead Falcons were abundant. XA to XC Falcons supplied most mechanical running gear, + door locks, handles, hinges etc, and I still use Falcon parts today. I could do with a new light switch one day, and a Falcon one is the same. Ozzie's just use 2 -3 year old Mustang components to build Falcons. Sure, from XA on the bodies were their own, but the body style wasn't. Until 2005

When I brought the first Mach 1 in 1980 it needed a complete RF suspension, and I used an XB one. Prior to that I had fitted HQ suspension to a 67 Camaro - the arms were identical, only fitted to the opposite side, and it now had discs instead of drums.

Sure, they've done a lot for themselves, but mostly it has been pilfered. And why not!

How's the V8 going OP!

bigracket, Feb 5, 7:54pm
"Stop been ignorant cause not everything holden is oz engineering sorry to say" (johnf_456,post #62).

So what, its got a little lion on it, its a v8. What exactly is your point! Its common knowledge that not EVERYTHING is ozzie made so !

chris241, Feb 5, 8:30pm
How's the V8 going OP![/quote]

have already pulled it to bits. The power steering pump is leaking and i have taken the hood lining out as it was saging im geting a new one made this week. And should have the p/s back in later in the week aswell.

chris241, Feb 5, 8:37pm
nice one m8 got any pics. Mine has got the HSV plaque on the throttle body cover. I dont know if this means anything all the other ones ive seen just have the holden lion on them!

have done a google search and it could be a HSV enhanced model but i need to look into it some more as im unsure

scotty20001, Feb 5, 9:45pm
if you knew anything about Holdens at all the V8 IS NOTtechnically a Chevrolet engine its called the GM LS V8 used in many GM cars, but its pointless arguing Holdens with somebody who drives a Jappa so stick to your milk and juice and leave the real cars to the fanatics who know a thing or 2.

scotty20001, Feb 5, 9:47pm
and i quote "funny how you didn't mention current Holden engines" ok just in case you didn't get me the first time ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC ALLOYTEC do you get it now! CURRENTLY DESIGNED AND BUILT AND MANUFACTURED IN AUSTRALIA.

scotty20001, Feb 5, 9:51pm
if thats the case it could be the 185kw model.

johnf_456, Feb 5, 9:56pm
Thats what i mean gm a gwneric v8 used in many cars. Thanks for finaly admiting they are not auz engineering. Oh and i never said a drive a jappa moron unless you have specificaly seen me drive tjen your comments are bs. Never said i dont like holden i just have a problem with people that say thy are all auz engineered and built when u knows thats not true for EVERY holden.

Took u long enough to admit about gm and the chev corvette engine. Ill say it again they are not all australian engineered!

Either way its still used in chev cars, hardly holden unique. I dont mind holdens just they are over rated by people with attiude problems who hate hearing the truth. Heck does rb engines ring any bells lol

johnf_456, Feb 5, 9:57pm
Pal go back to the start i never said all oz built do you have a reading disability! You self above finally admitted after how many times!

johnf_456, Feb 5, 10:03pm
Im talking about scoty back to his first post he has this obession they are oz engineered only ,reading his first post. But it took him a few attempts to admit it. Thats the point, i have no problem just people with an attiude. If your gping to admire a nanufacture dont get upset by thibgs you dont like hearing

scotty20001, Feb 5, 10:33pm
don't you have a heap of junk Celica or something!
