Hello Mr "I own the road"

As you were driving down the motorway in the right lane doing 95km/h I bet you thought you were king of the road.
When a white car came "screaming" up behind you with Hazards going and the driver flashing his lights and tooting his hornI guess you decided to "teach theA##### a lesson" by slowing down and speeding up to the same speed as the car alongside you-effectively blocking the road.
Well Guess what doofus.
That white car was rushing a heavilly pregnant woman to the hospital
She was in a lot of pain and the 10 minute wait for an ambo wasn't an option.
So thanks a million. you deciding you were king of the road might have cost a heck of a lot more than a few seconds.

Ok in fairness it turned out not to be quite as serious as thought.

Geez Kaz, when do you sleep!
Agree on the right hand lane muppets, many of them have had the stare and head shake at their lack of driving ability.

kazbanz, Jan 6, 5:15am
Not sleeping much at the mo--Mrs kaz is in hospital

thejazzpianoma, Jan 6, 5:17am
Blimey Kaz, I hope Mrs Kaz is O.K.
You have enough on your plate without complications and idiot drivers.

Hope you had a bit of an unwind while you were down in the bay.

Take care old chap!

thejazzpianoma, Jan 6, 5:19am
I know its hard but try and grab as much as you can while you can. You can't be anywhere as much help when you are tired.

Grab some melatonin pills from the Doc if you find you are too amped to sleep when you get a chance.

Were thinking of you!

thunderbolt, Jan 6, 5:30am
Maybe it's what you were driving Kaz, most people move out if the way of the late model Falcon.
Everyone moved out of the way of the old XW with the hood scoop though.
Good Luck chap, I will delay my visit to the yard for a few days.

kazbanz, Jan 6, 5:39am
Nahh she's having a rough time with baby. She's due mid feb but the looks the docs are giving us ain't hopefull bubs ifs goin full term

thejazzpianoma, Jan 6, 5:54am
It probably dosn't sound any consolation right now but at least from about here on in the earliest it can be is considered late pre-term (assuming my math is correct at this hour).

Still not ideal by any means but could be a lot worse and the Docs are pretty clued up on getting late pre-termers to thrive well these days from what I hear.

Still no fun for either of you, just that on its own is a nighmare and you have a business to tend and other kids to look after all done on little sleep. I wish there was something we could do to help. Feel free to drop me an email if you need to vent or just some distraction.

Next time take the bike.

net_oz, Jan 6, 10:35am
So, you think you 'own' the road! They obviously thought the same. Recipie for disaster there.
How would you feel if someone came screaming up behind you in an unidentified car! Obviously not an emergency vehicle so really they had no reason to move over just because of some 'idiot' flashing himself. You have no more right to be there than they did.

trogedon, Jan 6, 11:35am
Same here Kaz. I hope it all goes well.

modie61, Jan 6, 12:29pm
All the best kaz and mrs kaz.
Just shows us what dikheads there are out there on our roads.
Stay safe guys.

extrayda, Jan 6, 12:37pm
Good luck, our last was a month early, and it doesn't make things easy (we had a few problems). All ended up 100% fine though :-)

whqqsh, Jan 6, 12:42pm
a mate of mine used to do the same as your 'hero'. I told him one day what if he was in a hurry, had an emergency, sick kid rushed to hospital or whatever. He reckoned NOTHING was that important to endanger lives on the road. well my crystal ball was in fine tune because only a week or so later the kid rushed to hospital thing happened & he came over to my place spewwing about useless drivers going too slow in the outside lane while he had an emergency. I reminded him of our previous conversation & repiled with a jumble of . yeah but, I but (stammer something) but, but/// lol.
oh & hope your family are all good now

jason18, Jan 6, 12:56pm
Good luck Kaz. Hopefully all goes well for you and your wife and Congrats on the incoming bubs :) My mates had a prem baby at 32 weeks and he is now 2.

bill-robinson, Jan 6, 1:03pm
makes you wonder if people have any memory of the first road rule KEEP LEFT

lookoutas, Jan 6, 1:42pm
Piss-off dickhead.

All the best kaz'n'co.

gadgit3, Jan 6, 1:50pm
Travle in the LH lane unless over taking. someone here was more in the wrong then our Mr kaz

offrd1, Jan 6, 2:32pm
WHO'S THE IDIOT !Was it you blocking the road

extrayda, Jan 6, 2:40pm
Drivers that sit in the RH lane doing exactly the same speed or even slightly less than the LH lane drive me nuts.Often about 97/98 kph.
If I am in the RH lane and travelling no faster than the LH I move across into the LH lane.Often I have to move into the LH lane to pass the idiots sitting in the RH lane going slowly.I drive from West Auckland to North Shore daily, and this happens almost all of the time. How hard is it to move left - really !
And if someone comes up fast behind me, I move out the way no matter who they are - they may be in a hurry for some genuine reason, or if not, they will be a better target than me if there are any police on the read ahead :-)

romulan7, Jan 6, 2:51pm
Sorry to say this but there is fault on both sides on this and what you wroe highlights it.Even though kaz wont be able to grasp this in the situation they were in rushing means not thinking very clearly and also behaving in a reckless manner. The adrenalin would have been rushing and thats dangerous even to trained emergency drivers.

Yes been there a few times but then also had the training which despite that still does not mean I can get away with it either.Rushed my wife to hospital for our first kid 35kph over the speedlimit!Cop stopped me and escorted us to the hospital yet some twit still pulled out in front of me as the cop passed him with lights going.
Even with the redlights blazing emergency vehicle drivers often get some idiot do something irrational in front of them! Some peoople simply just panic whenappraoched by flashing lights even on emergency vehicles.

Hope you missus is ok though Kaz be safe though not worth getting tied up with a prang by trying to save a few seconds to get to the hospital quicker.

NZTools, Jan 6, 2:55pm
Keep your chin up Kaz. A few weeks early isnt ideal, but its not too much drama. When our 2 little rats were born, we lived 1 1/2 hours from the hospital. Needless to say, every contraction brought on another 10 kph increase on the speedo :)

wrong2, Jan 6, 2:58pm
what an uncooperative & rude attitude

that would be a clear signal to anyone with manners that they were in a hurry (i.e. to let them past)

geez some people . . . . .

romulan7, Jan 6, 3:04pm
Its amazing the amount of people in this country who have no idea of how to drive on what we luaghingly call a motorway and how to keep left! Then again the motorway design in Auckland is such that if you do keep left you end up getting flitered off at the next slip road a few Ks up the road.

Also this 97/98kph you mention! That would be 100kph according to their speedos in most cases if yous is spot on accurate or using a GPS!Again many cars in this country overread the actual speed by 10kph especially jap imports. Its laughable people stress over what is 2mph (the differance between 97 and 100kph)

romulan7, Jan 6, 3:07pm
Can you explain why they do it to emergency vehicles as well!
