i got told $300 for a reconditioned one! Sounds like a rip off to me.

No, that's about right. Also, remember that the garage that gave you a quote are not running a charity organisation, but a business. They have to make money somehow.

put new brushes in yourself, $28 when I did it to mine. pig of a job to to though, its got come out the bottom on the lantis.
