cap pressure tested and radiator cleaned by rad shop not getn hot now how would a thermostat create a pressure issue!

It can if it is causing overheating and thus the coolant to go above boiling point. What model is it!I have had VX series 3.8's around the 2001 era given to me with similar symptoms that have cracked heads, a couple of them now.Not saying its a common problem but it does happen.

Faulty thermostats won't open, therefore hot water can't circulate out of the engine into the radiator, so it stays in the engine and the whole thing gets hotter and hotter. But the volume of water-filled space inside the waterways remains the same, so the pressure increases until something breaks!
