going from the 2nd most reliable car to the most reliable eh. Sorry cant help with the whole spotting a dodgy motor. Guess just start it from cold and see how well it idles. And a few short bursts of the throttle to check for any unwanted smoke on cold starts

what a good misses you have,get a compression check done ,start and open rad cap watch level,also run to warm,then turn off and start again when cold.

that depends on how they're treated / maintained, plenty of well cared for RX7's out there that will be just as reliable as a WRX
