yes i agree with you there but i know vw had direct injection engines on prototype even in the mk1 golf. they are the ones who pumped the worlds most research in to diesel technology with first electronicdirect injector engines on the maket in 1991 on audi 100 tdi on standard cars. japan was still behind the moon making 1960s diesel engines , the japanese like toyota have superior 4 cilinder petrol engines in the 90s and vw ruled the diesel market along with most other european diesel like fiat with 1.7 turbodiesel doing 65mpg on conventional mechanical diesel. so technically euro diesel are 30 years ahead of japan with Research And Development.

best ute is the 2.4 1987 rocker roller non turbodiesel toyota . as seen on topgear, dont get a 1988 as they are the next generation pooo engine toyota made. only downside is they will all be rusted apart by now

What a load of rubbish, I came over the Kaimais today from the waikato in my new 2012 Nissan ST-X 450, 6th gear straight up the hill, passed everything in sight and it was like a walk in the park for it, heaps of torque, pulled away from my wife in her 2.4 liter Toyota Ipsumand just gone and it only has 114km'son the clock.
