A trusted mechanic whom you know that specialises in that brand.

AA Inspections are next to useless. I've had better results with VTNZ. All well and good saying to go to a trusted mechanic, but you have to have a trusted mechanic who knows his stuff and won't muck you around and not everyone has one of those.

Id just ask to take it for a wof (with the owners permission), even if it has a wof. tell the wof inspector your intending to buy it and want his input

Bad advice really, for someone asking who is best to inspect a car before purchase.

hows it bad! I have done this in the past, took the car and owner to a wof place, told the wof guy I wanted to buy it and wanted his opinion. it did pass wof but he also pointed out a defect that would need fixing although it was not a wof issue. This was taken into account when I made my offer on the car.

I don't see hows it bad, compared to the likes of the AA who like picking up scratches and seat stains. Paying a mechanic to do a tough wof is money well spent.over going by gut instinct.

car inspection services will inspect this truck for you and are mobile check out the web site. All very well to take the vehicle for a wof inspection but that will not check the engine, gearbox etc etc and will just waste your money when the engine fails.
