My old 2.0 petrol Hilux used 14L/100kms. A 1996 Terrano 2.7 t/diesel used 10L/100km. 1986 Isuzu Bighorn 2.2 t/diesel used 12L/100kms. A 1992 Isuzu MU 2.8 t/diesel used 10L/100kms. A Ford Territory turbo uses 20L/100kms.

craig04, May 2, 7:48am
My old 80 series t/d 4.2 used 13L/100km's round town and 11L/100km's open road.

'88 Safari SWB n/a TD42 5 speed, about 10l/100km open road, 16-17 l/100km open road towing a 2.5 tonne boat trailer (Incl Lewis pass etc).Around town it's pretty thirsty, but I've never bothered to measure it.I only do about 5000km/year in it.

r15, May 2, 7:51pm

My last 3 vehicles. All figures are taken overall, over thousands of kms and include commuting, boat towing and the occasional open road trip.
2.7TD Terrano - 14.5 litre/100km
2000 3.0 diesel Prado - 12.7 litre/100km
4.0 petrol FJ criuser - 14.1 litre/100km.

unclejake, May 3, 5:37am
Astounding.

Get someone to read your own posts to you before you go calling people names.

boat3, May 3, 6:15am
sure, count the number of people who got the question, then those who didnt.hmmm

sr2, May 3, 6:26am
Not too quick off the mark are we, the fact that all the replies used the correct Litres per 100 Km speaks volumes!

boat3, May 3, 6:35am
sr2,10 litres per 100 km,85 litres to do 850 km ! 100 litres 1000 km,pretty complicated i know,if you dont have anything to contribute to a post, why not go and look for one you can contribute to.yawn

My new 2012 Nissan 450 ute (2.5l diesel 6 speed manual 4wd) with wife and 3 kids/ luggage on a recent trip to Taupo did 8.5L/100 going by the trip computer, still got along quite quick on cruise control, I thought that was quite good seen it's only done 5000km.

boat3, May 3, 7:06am
wow thats good,a mate of mine has got a brand new pathfinder with the same engine.goes very well,i`m interested to hear what some other vehicles use in the real world(not wikipedia!)i`m trying to work out if i`d save much by having a diesel without trying to pick on one make of vehicle.

zephyrheaven, May 3, 7:44am
a tank & a bit maybe

80 series

why!

boat3, May 3, 7:53am
just interested to hear what similar vehicles to mine use,you know the ol petrol versus diesel debate,i have thought about another diesel, just not sure if i will save much, gets a bit pricey towing my boat backwards and forwards from stratford to new plymouth.trying to hear what a wide range of 4wds use in the real world.my v6 pajero does about 17-20 litres per 100km with a 6.5 alloy hardtop boat on the back, but it does tow it very well with 160 kw.

steve312, May 3, 7:55am
My 3ltr turbo Hilux would go through plenty of tanks of diesel if I tried to drive 1000kms in 4WD low range :o)
