can i put a regulator an a hq alternator as my hj does not have the plug and is designed to use a internally regulated alternator

I thought HQ had external one bolted to inner guard.

If it is a Bosch alternator you can buy an internal regulator which replaces the brush box assemble and then all you need to do is find the warning light wire and plug it in.
