Perhaps yes- but if we invested in the technology, and besides you don't need to make hydrogen it occurs naturally. Never-the-less my argument is that surely with the level of technology nowadays we could manufacture a substitute.

I certainly hope not- these have not got the grunt to be able to tow my caravan ;)

I was under the impression that they can be very grunty - like 1000hp grunt.

key phrase "can be". Not in a small enough form to fit into a car

We don't have to manufacture it, only refine. The problem is the infrastructure required (think gas stations) for hydrogen powered combustion engines.
Hydrogen fuel celled cars are a different story but equally if not more expensive per car.

I seem to recall seeing something on TV a couple of years ago now about a NZ man coming up with a perfectly working example of a normal car engine with a couple of mods that could run on tap water! I later heard that an a large conglomerate bought the patent off him for a decent whack of money- heard nothing more so I can only guess that 'they' have moth balled it for when oil does run out :)
HAHAHA- no no I don't need 1000hp for the caravan (although it would come in handy)It weighs about 1.8T btw

when oil runs out im going to run ion propulsion, powered by a 1.5-GW nuclear reactor in my commy, should get from Auckland to Wellington in about 2.42 seconds

lol, magnetically suspended gravity wheels spinning at 2 RPM would provide 1G of gravity, harness that sucker and your away.

I thought of that 20 years ago. Electromagnetically that is.
Oh god somebody posted a link to Ken Ring.new lows have been hit.

Oh geez. I didn't read that bit

Google Ken Ring, he's a fruit loop. After the Christchurch earthquakes, Ken Ring predicted another bad Christchurch earthquake that had locals running scared. Of course it never eventuated.
".Russian scientists believe that oil is "a-biotic", continuing to be replaced by chemical processes in the crust of the earth."
Wow, imagine that.

So does that mean that effectively we have the same amount of oil as we did 100 years ago!
