i have a n15 pulsur vzr with the sr16ve engine.
the problem i have with it is when its cold to warmit lacks power between 4800 5500 rpm just befor the variable valve timing kicks in. then it goes to full power all the way to red line. but it doesnt lack any poweronce its at running temp. any ideas as to why it does that

Why are you red lining a cold engine!- that's your first problem

OK well standard VVL points are a bit higher than that, around the 6000-7000 range so that makes me ask the question do you have a daughterboard or any other aftermarket computer installed! That may be the issues if the cold start has been incorrectly set up.

at what RPM does the VVL kick in! There are two stages, first one you will feel then second you will hear! From memory you should get intake cam switching at 5900 rpm and exhaust at 6900rpm. Exhaust is the loud one. If they switch at different rpm then chances are you have an aftermarket tune on your ECU

yep that sound about right for when they kick in
