Vehicle history/ownership - why can't you get this

sorry, may have been discussed before (too lazy to scroll thru thread!) but up till a few weeks ago you used to be able to get basic details on a vehicle which was useful for pre-purchasing.does anyone know why suddenly this seems to be disabled and if there are any site/s where you can still achieve basic data for this purpose!Cheers.

The availability of the free and unlimited current information via the likes of carjam was discontinued at the start of this year, if you sign up to carjam you can get three free checks a month, after that you have to pay a small fee each time.
