front sway bar bushes and stones in the tops of the struts. Not cv's the commie is rwd

Sounds more like the sway bar link bushes are worn/split & need replacing. Also do the sway bar link rods as well.

if its the sway bar link bushes theres usually a clunk when you hit a bump I just done mine cost $60 off trademe took about 40 minutes

My commodore makes the same "clonking" noise when onfull left lock. Think its caused by Pedestrians.

If your doing the sway bar link bushes you might as well spend the extra $40 and get the nolathane sway bar link as well. They are almost twice as thick and already pre bent. (just make sure you put them in facing the right way) as said above takes bugger all time (with a grinder)
