I have a Navara with a z16 engine and have been told all the z series share many parts.There are both z16 and 18 engines on here.

dammit i might plan ahead and buy one mines only done 320,000 ks and still doesnt use a drop of oil between oil changes

That was my idea too, but engineer mate said it wont work and will just snap again.Can anyone think of why he would have said that!Its a clean break (both rails) about 20mm inboard of the alternator bolt.

Good idea.LOL.It must be clap out month.Until now mines only had: set of shocks, shackle bushes, one plug lead.In the last 6 weeks the tacho died, the starter wouldn't stop, the water pump leaked, speedo cable broke, rad cap gave up; and NOW the bracket broke.I'm almost scared to open the door now in case the poltregist attacks me!

Ok, mines not the 8 spark but has a problem i cant solve.I have fitted a mitsubishi carb which hasn't cured the problem.Thanks anyway.

Provided you grind out to form a vee joint then weld will be stronger than parent metal.

try a weber twin throat and a set of extractors,or see murray at weber specs very good on carbs

Cheers for the idea.Having fitted the mitsy carbI'm sure now it's not a carbproblem, want a factory type to refit factory air cleaner etc. Would like to try another dizzy in it to eliminatethat too. Mines a z16.

The weld will be stronger than the parent metal, however as the parent metal was work hardened, and is now as brittle as hell, it will just break along the edge of the weld.
