All things equal (same car, weight etc), then the impact each car will see is simply 100kph. not 200kph which seems to be a common misconception! Swap 1 car for a large truck and. well, I probably don't need to say what will happen lol but the speed the car "sees" will be higher thanks to the trucks inertia.

We had a CSIU officer tell us the speed of two cars hitting each other at 100kph is 200kph.Not about to agrue with anybody about it as no matter what speed it equates to its not pretty.
The officer is wrong. not trying to start an argument or anything :) It's been tested, the important part starts at 2:12 (small scale testing) but as with Mythbusters, that whole story is spread over the full episode http://www.youtube.com/watch!v=PvUka_yhqMU&feature=relmfu
Toyotas first car was in 1936 too, I'm not saying they're going to get onto making decent Chinese cars quickly :P And the improving is obvious if you look back at some of their earlier attempts but they never made it into what you'd consider decent markets.

The Korean car industry has come of age now yet 20 years ago it was cloned rubbish Hyundai building knock off Mitsubishis albeit better than the originals Kia was building Mazda 121s for Ford and Daewoo was rebadging ancient Vauxhalls. These guys have come a long way in far less time than it took the Japanese so expect the Chinese cars to be good by 2020. The Jap stuff doesnt fall apart like it used to BUT the still cant make something that drives like a Euro but they are still learning.
