Didn't say it was a problem, just wondered if anyone ever made one that way. I know I could google it but real answers are more interesting.

Actually it may not be a leftie or rightie thing, it may be that way because of threads, and using a lathe does not unwind when you are using it (for various heads and attachments)

Awesome.
I have lathe envy, slightly ashamed of my teeny Myford.

I got the job on the forklift awhile back taking a larger lathe than the 1 here off a truck and getting it part way into my friends workshop. Talk about paranoia. Endless chain and jacks got it the rest of the way inside the workshop. Not sure what he's gunna do with it but for $1000 he thought he better grab it seeing as it was local.

Yep - exactly! What real MF's to be moving around. I've had smaller ones in the past but these big boys are a total different kettle of fish. I would suspect that when they want to go over - there is not a lot you can do when you have not got heavy gear like a fork tied to it or something. Cheers.

Mine is only 800mm between centers; I think I must be suffering from "lathe envy". !

Of course they have LH lathes, how do you think left hand threads are made!

Snap; I didn't notice your post. There is obviously a lot of it going around!
