1997 mazda 626 ignition leads problem

Need to get new plug leads for a mates NZ new 1997 Mazda 626 sporthatch, 4 cyl 2 litre GE. They are apparently a hell of a price new. Wondering if a "normal" set of new plug leads would work, as in the standard leads like older motors used! It has normal sized leads and dizzy connections, only difference is the long hard plastic piece which fits into the tunnel around the plugs. Just a thought, as standard new plug leads are a reasonable price. If not, then he will have to fork out the bikkies for the Mazda ones. Cheers

Don't pay the silly price for OEM/Mazda.
Hunt around - you should be able to find NGK or Bosch cables for that model car no problem.Probably about 1/3 the price of OEM - probably better quality too.

Yes, ordinary leads will work, but you'll need extra long nose pliers to clip them onto the spark plugs. However, they won't look professional.
