Why does my ignition wiring loom have.

A plug that if you disconnect it won't turn over would be handy but why would it be there!

It did have tape around it but I was in the process of removing my old day runner lights etc and come across that

looks aftermarket. maybe it had an immobilizer/kill switch at one point in its life

mechnificent, Nov 24, 2:44pm
It might be for start inhibitor in an auto.

chebry, Nov 25, 10:48am
Could be an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser, unbelieveable I know but these did get stolen

yep purple wire in commies is starter wire .id just hide a switch between the two.

It's probably a ballast resistor, normally in series with the coil, but shorted out by the ignition switch when cranking the engine.Counteracts the battery voltage drop while starter is running.
