Why are they so damned noisy. And no they are not a beautiful sound. Our disabled kid gets frightened when they pass. Is that the idea!

Because they are what they are. I dont want to 'beat-up' on you but, why dont you take your "disabled kid" to a show or bike shop so he can sit on one. Touch it, even maybe give it a rev. Educate the boy some. Makes me sad to think he's frightened of any motor noises.

If There child is less than able bodied then they must be disabled!Truth hurts many people. Its not a swear word its a true discription. Slighty off the topic but an answer to a off topic post. Harleys, well there is only one true answer but you will never hear it admitted.like many many things.

i'd suggest making sure that the first one he gets close to while it's running has a baffled exhaust and have it just idling to start with-maybe even have him start it so he feels kinda like it's not totally out of his control.

Overrated piles of poop. Everyone else has to operated their vehicle or bike with mufflers yet many / most HOGS are fitted with straight 'drag' pipes. They sound like fat ladies farting, God knows why their owners think they sound cool when they don't.

I'm at odds with everyone. I love the sound they make. Loud or not.
Better than jungle drums through a sub woofer in the boot of a boy racer courier van, for sure.

So true. And they even had to errect signs saying "No exhaust brakes next __kms Please"What does that tell ya. Some people just the like the sound of there own car, truck, bike, music or whatever.Its just a "look at me" kinda thing. We have all done it at some point, just like checkin yaself out in the shop windows as ya cruise past. Its human nature thats all. Just like the guy who lets his dog bark all day. And of course alot is just plain ignorants to others.

its usually because Police and some W.O.F issuers haven't got the balls to clang them for a noisey vehicle,always makes me laugh how Police jump on Rota drivers and yet they will escort a bike gang,who all have illegal exhausts.go to a Harley dealer and have a listen to a brand new one,they still have to comply with decibel reading levels.

Performance bike did a reasonably scientific test of this and NO loud pipes don't save lives. I dislike the sound of them.

Correct. Loud pipes neither save lives or improve performance. They are simply 'look at me' exhaust systems.
