Mat, it "looks" like you can buy washer bottles on ebay.co.uk for about £10.
The other place to try is shop4parts.co.uk

#1 Medically proven to be irreverent
#2 have to wonder about the source of your information

geminidragon, Feb 11, 1:52pm
i think the build and design quality of euro cars are better

drog, Feb 11, 2:03pm
Not if it's a Peugeot 309.

phillip.weston, Feb 11, 3:19pm
Or anything Opel. Or Renault.

bigfatmat1, Feb 11, 5:32pm
Yeah we don't source parts from ebay or the likes we use dealerships. Or nz companies That way we have a come back if something fails and its not some chinese crap.

bmc460, Feb 11, 5:40pm
Most of the tractors on farms are euro built as are most of trucks on the road or they are owned by european makes, but cars are a bit slower on the uptake as they mostly seem to be jappas on the road.

prefergerman engineering tojapanese

thejazzpianoma, Feb 11, 8:15pm
So Italian Auto Centre and Dino Enterprises had neither a new or a used one!!

EDIT
A very quick look and it appears to me that the washer pump is removable, its part 71719636 and is fitted to just about every Fiat and Alfa produced from the early 90's until the mid 2000's. If that is the case there is absolutely no way you couldn't easily get at least a secondhand one easily in NZ.

Just which supplier or suppliers did you ask!

bigfatmat1, Feb 11, 10:25pm
yes it is removable part of the washer bottle presses in and clips in. Agents. Then i used Capricorn then their recommendations. This is common BTW in my job for euro cars. As are comments from Aa members complaining there vw golf or polo coasts so much to keep on the road and maintain . i am not trolling either.

pebbles61, Feb 11, 10:57pm
Depends if one views the UK as being part of Europe. To be fair it's not exactly connected to it is it.

thejazzpianoma, Feb 11, 11:04pm
Spade is a spade, I am quite happy with that.

Here are some thoughts that may be worth considering. I think the problem you may be having, and its a problem others have too without realising it is your method. You think you are using the correct/easiest system but don't realise there are much better and quicker ways.

Lots of agents (especially Euro) seem to be incompetent twat's who charge stupid money for things for no good reason. They don't have the faintest clue about their product either. Its also worth bearing in mind that Atteco the importer for Fiat and Alfa are beyond incompetent, so the agents don't get the support they need.

What I suggest you do is line up a couple of good suppliers for each brand and I think you will get on MUCH better.

For Alfa/Fiat start with Italian Auto's, they do new and secondhand and they are proper genuine service agents for Fiat. They are easy to deal with and Glenn in parts knows his stuff. Mal (Dino Enterprises) is a good backstop, he is fully independent but is a very busy man and some find him a bit abrupt. That said he has treated me pretty well over the years.

For VW/Audi/Skoda, Qualitat might be a good one to use. Not sure what their trade discount is like but worth asking. You will get straight answers with them.

Speed based in Tauranga are also incredibly helpful and they have a specialist for most Europan brands.

Don't feel that by using the above its going to somehow be "more hassle" it should in affect be much less hassle because they won't ask dumb questions and are going to be able to give accurate information on the fly. Sure it may mean you have a few extra invoices to pay at the end of the month but you will often save the couple minutes needed to pay the invoice many times over in time saved not getting the run around. In the case of the washer it would have saved you the job (assuming you couldn't help the customer in the end).

Volvo and the frenchies can be a bit of a pig in NZ but VW, Fiat and Alfa should be pretty good, VW group products especially. I would expect BMW would be pretty good too but don't have much experience with them.

In general I would much rather order and pay for VW parts over even say Toyota parts, especially if its not an every day service item. Dealing with the likes of Italian Auto's and Qualitat is as easy as it get's, most things should be a 1-2 minute conversation and its on its way and they have real people servicing these things too whom they will refer you to for advice.

Bottom line is cars are now very complicated, unless you only want to deal with the most basic and common models of the most common brand it makes a lot of sense to lean on the knowledge of good competent brand specialists. Otherwise its too easy to get ripped off and frustrated.

My 2C

thejazzpianoma, Feb 11, 11:07pm
BTW, if you get stuck on a Fiat/Alfa item again. Why not drop me a line! If I am busy I will say but usually I have a bit of time to help and many things I can probably point you in the right direction on without needing to look anything up.

If you had asked about the washer motor I could have set you right in a few seconds.

thejazzpianoma, Feb 11, 11:22pm
Just a note with regard to Speed, they are a good backstop for all Euro stuff but don't have secondhand gear and won't stock as much as the likes of Qualitat or Italian Auto's. I use them for french stuff though and other random odds and ends where I don't know who to use. They try really hard.

3tomany, Feb 11, 11:56pm
have you followed mitsubishi lately!

gilco2, Feb 12, 12:02am
just saw program on Choice and theShard (not sure if it is spelt that way) being built in London is the largest building in Europe. So they class it as Europe

pebbles61, Feb 12, 12:47am
Like I said, some people see it open to debate. Would you say NZ is part of the Australian continent! In my opinion NZ isn't part of a continent at all.

phillip.weston, Feb 12, 1:12am
Lately! Probably not. A 20+ year old Mitsubishi! Probably.

gilco2, Feb 12, 1:15am
definitely not part of Aussie continent. But part of Australasia due to proximity

bigfatmat1, Feb 12, 1:39am
thanks Capricorn is a massive parts network i did try a couple of those places you mentioned.

geminidragon, Feb 12, 1:40am
audisa6 is a nice build

thejazzpianoma, Feb 12, 12:57pm
I am a bit familiar with Capricorn from when I ran my business (I supplied). While huge I think some of the important suppliers are not necessarily members. Something is falling down anyway if you can't easily access something as plentiful as one of those washer motors.

Anyhow, food for thought. I do appreciate how its a bit different when you are in business with time available to research etc being limited.

Best of luck with the next one!

zak1998, Feb 12, 2:32pm
In NZ yes
