Kinda have to disagree with you for once Kaz. Have replaced 2 vehicles in the past 2 years. My 05 Hiace diesel, Was offered $13k by one Toyota dealer as a trade on a new one AND about $7k off retail of the new one. Went to another Toyota dealer about 15km away and was offered $20k AND the same $7k discount. Retail at the time was about $24k for mine. I sold it privately for $22k. Just replaced Mrs Stevo's Axela 2 weeks ago with a new S-Cross. Was offered $5.5k to $8.5k as a trade on different cars (brand new). They all hinted it would be sitting on their yard at $11995 and probably sell for around $10,500 to $11,000. I sold it privately for $9200. Nowhere even close to the $1,500 markup you speak of.

jmma, The $7k discount is "Fleet Discount" Quite common for GST registered businesses to be offered fleet discount. Discount given whether you trade or not
