Which Toyota Fielder 1500 or 1800cc

brucie44, Jan 24, 6:11pm
Both have VVTI motors.
both 2007 -2008
Many thanks for wisdom in advance.

brucie-they are BOTH really fantastic cars.
The difference is
1)theres a difference in the power that only YOU can say is an issue or not.
2)the power difference is offset by a price difference.-Generally you will find that the 1500cc version is cheaper than the 1800cc version by $1000-2000 given same age/mileage/colour in and out

x1
Yes this what you said other day Thanks Kaz. It is what got me thinking.
Saw a lovely 1800 with a copper-salmon colour. Was a grand dearer because of colour.
Waiting for AA report on a silver one 1800. But if that fails think will test drive a 1500. Was impressed by power of 1800.

have you driven the "old school version?--

brucie44, Jan 24, 11:30pm
no tr old version. I own a Spacio 1997

kazbanz, Jan 24, 11:41pm
sorry brucie--I mean 03-06 with a normal gearbox

brucie44, Jan 25, 12:10am
no Kazbanz.
I noted the one I drove got a bit of throttle-lag.
Stamp on loud pedal it goes. Oh my.

bwg11, Jan 25, 12:21am
Don't know if what you describe is "throttle lag" as such, I've noticed this on several "fly by wire throttles". You need to give a bit more jandal than you expect too. Wonder if the slower response is intentionally programmed as an economy aid?

brucie44, Jan 25, 1:12am
yep will practise the more jandal :)
a matter of settling into the car.

I had a 2001 1800, I did 250,000km and it never saw a mechanic in that time, I did the basics myself, paid 13k sold for 6k. very cheap motoring.

buyit59, Jan 25, 4:23am
Mine was an 04 s/wagon 1.8 auto bought at 116km for $7,000 and sold at 235km for $3,500 and only routine servicing required . Agree with timbo69.

brucie44, Jan 25, 6:45pm
thanks timbo and buyit.
:)

kcf, Jan 25, 11:09pm
I had 480,000km + on an 1800cc.

I'd definitely recommend the 1800 as being a nicer engine to drive than the 1500.

1800cc version I'd go for without hesitation.
1500cc one is good for round town work though?

timbo69, Jan 26, 12:40am
Mine was a manual and did ~600km on 40l of fuel, yea im sure the 1500 uses less but I dont think it would be worth the saving, unless things are really tight

intrade, Jan 26, 12:45am
well the 1.5 model sold new in 2008 for 17 grand as where the 1,8 where never sold this cheap new that was the base model 1,5 with manual transmission , extreem gutless in lower rpm untill you reved it to its maximum torque and that was over 4000rpm. The ex naighbour purchsed a new corolla station wagon with the 1.5 and she traded it in 3 years later and paid another 6 grand for a 3 year older 1.8 model

thanks all :)
appreciated.

The fielder 1800 - and there are 2 x motors - the S version is low power and OK if you want boring - ( I drove both and bougt the Z ) but if you like a bit of HP when you need it , get the Z Fielder version - has 190 HP and still economical if you dont rev it into where the VVTi kicks in . a fun car to drive .

Purchased a Fielder 1800 S 2007. Very happy. A nice car for me. Suits me fine :)
Thanks for all the wisdom :)
