Ford Focus power steer

freddie19, Sep 25, 12:08am
2001 Focus was leaking from the pressure sender unit which is on the line from the pump to the rack
I removed it and blocked off, there seems to be no lights come on and steering is fine
So my question is the purpose of this part
Can i do without it ?

does it still idle ok when you go lock to lock ?

It is for maintaining idle speed for when the power steering pump is loaded up, its an on/off pressure switch. It may possibly cause momentary low idle speed condition, shuddering from the steering and maybe even log fault codes. I'd be interested to see what effect it has, its not fitted for no reason.

It might just be like our tonsils franc!

Freddie--during "normal' driving you probably won't notice it. It will be parking you notice it the most. The car might stall for "no reason"
