saw a 2.8 xtra cab 4x4 owned by a old farmer with 700000ks on it, it was pretty rough but still started first pop

stevo2, Jul 20, 8:29am
An ex workmate had a 96 Hiace 2.8lt with 760,000km on the odo. He bought it from his brother who had been driving it since new and had the odo disconnected for a long time.

msigg, Jul 20, 9:09am
Yea that's a good story, probably one of the Toyota dealers will purchase it as a promo vehicle.

2sheddies, Jul 20, 9:38am
Pretty impressive being one owner for all that time, although not too uncommon nowadays to see 500k plus on many of the more modern vehicles, seems to be especially those built in the early to mid '90's, such is their longevity.

pyro_sniper2002, Jul 20, 9:44am
Yeah and they've only done 3 heads, 2 diffs and an engine block in that time.

matarautrader, Jul 20, 9:50am
Just had a look on trade me and it seems that there is 13 Toyota's alone that have exactly 999,999km on the clock. Amazing how they all have 999,999. I wonder if they will drop in price if they hit the dreaded 1,000,000kms?

monaro17, Jul 20, 9:52am
For that price! I would rather poke my eyes out with needles. What an appalling price

thejazzpianoma, Jul 20, 9:57am
Yeah, depreciation on European vehicles is terrible aye!

franc123, Jul 20, 9:59am
And 7 sets of brake rotors, 6 sets of injectors, 5 clutches and dmfs, 4 egr valves, 3 heater controllers, 2 high pressure pumps, and a lone ECM under warranteee.

franc123, Jul 20, 10:00am
Pisstake is another way of putting it, divide by two and then subtract a couple of grand is closer to the mark.

thejazzpianoma, Jul 20, 10:07am
Where is the song about the extra 200 oil changes he has done vs a Sprinter of the same milage?

Even if the local garage does them for $100 for him, that's $20'000 right there.

franc123, Jul 20, 10:13am
Well that's less than a grand a year on servicing isn't it, excluding air and fuel filters and other consumables, and the odd timing belt. Cheap motoring still and no need to get a loan vehicle for the days and weeks a Eurovan would have spent off the road in that time to fix other things.

I struggle to believe that it has never had the gearbox out for a clutch job. In fact I've stopped struggling, I don't believe it.

jmma, Jul 20, 10:21am
UUmmmmm. was a feel good Toyota thread until.

jmma, Jul 20, 10:23am
I have got 270kms on my Corolla and no clutch yet, let you know how I get on in another 750kms :oP

Considering the listing has been up for 6 months, it is obviously overpriced and or undesirable.

For a $100k vehicle, that is now 7 years old, its depreciated value should now be around $12,400.

snoopy221, Jul 20, 11:20am
Tis the age old qualified mechanics song about preventive maintainence

Somehow not played by ya jazzpianoma. lol

Just had a mate tell me a courier driver bought his hiace van into his garage for major repairs after 400,000 km. The quote was 17k to fix and said owner was happy to pay as hiace is the best van out there so is worth spending coin on.
