Now before anyone starts going on about Ecotec or LS1s etc, I have a free VN V6 available. It has 334,000ks, auto, recon ported heads, and it's already out the back. I'm after high comp pistons/rings, bearings, gasket sets etc. Thinking a small cam with a chip, all going into a lighter, lower geared HJ Holden. Again. I have the engine/box already. The stove hot 202 is nice, but 'userfreindlyness' and economy is going to be the main selling points. I've done a bit of googling, buggerall I can find. Be nice, I don't suffer idiots kindly. Have a bloody nice weekend!
Nothing really wrong with those V6's. Just a lot on money and time putting it into a HJ. If you don't want to make your own sump/pick up. mounts etc I'm pretty sure Castlemain rod shop do everything you need. Budget about 3-4g if you have to buy the parts and pay someone to do it or about 1-2g if you make your own parts and do the work yourself.

Cheers, I do everything myself. Saved many a small fortune in the past! Mainly after hi comp pistons, decent bearings, rings etc. I bought a gasket set from Aus a while ago. when I replaced the heads, and it was way cheaper than buying here. Mrs quite often threatens to cut up my credit card.

Don't forget they use to use those type of motors in formula Holden racing years ago. Might be some stuff still floating around.
Yep, been there. Also have a complete install into an HZ saved. May have to leave the engine alone apart from rings and bearings, for now. I have a spare subframe from an HX GTS, so can dummy fit most of it before tearing the HJ to bits.
http://www.nzsix.co.nz/carregulations.htm i really like your project. saw a v6 in a q or z wagon on tm was for sale for 25g many moons ago. the nzsix sates what the max allowable upgrades for that class .
Cheers. I've also tried '3800' and TA Performance. Wouldn't mid the Grand National setup! S2 pistons are different. But I spose I could machine the 1.5mm off the top.

Hey Steve, the car in your profile pic, is it on 14s 15s or 17s? Mine has 14s but tyre size is becoming an issue. Thinking of upping to 15s but 17s if I need to. Cheers.

still rolling on 14 . 15 plus year old rears not sure on fronts 4 year old A block yokos in boot , 245 rears 225 fronts now , in pic14 by 8 speedy Californians 0 offset 245 bfg , have read aussy might be getting shipment of 14 bfg again. rims were 8s in photo now on 7 1/2 cragar pro stars. don't drive it so tires are not too much of a worry but lack of hoon white writing on side walls is sad. have gotten used to seeing 17s on old cars now they look good when lowered to good ride height .
