So a 16yo BMW failed at some point without warning. I think any 16yo car should be driven carefully at all times. If you want to trust a car with your baby, buy a newer, safer car, or drive with much more care. It may be "The Ultimate Driving Machine", but what life expectancy did you expect it to have?

I was a bit harsh there about it being less safe than a newer car. But an older, less maintained, car, will have more failures than a later model. Especially if it has highly engineered (complex) components in the suspension.

At some point when someone bought the car, a question was posed: Is this a good car? Is it a good deal? Is it the right car for transporting my family? Is it affordable and safe?
Or were the questions: Does it have leather seats? Does it give me some status? Can I impress my wife with it?
Harsh, but fair possibly.
If you bought it new, I'm sorry and maybe you deserve better from the dealer.
